Two employees of the Israeli Embassy in the United States were killed outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., American authorities announced this morning. Police arrested an armed suspect who was reportedly calling for the “liberation of Palestine.”
The investigation into the attack, which occurred on Wednesday evening local time, is ongoing.
Footage of the man suspected of committing the terrorist attack being apprehended was posted on social media.
“Before the shooting, the suspect was observed outside the museum. He approached a group of four people, drew a handgun, and opened fire,” Washington Police Chief Pamela Smith told reporters.

Police identified the assailant as Elias Rodriguez (30) from Chicago.
“These horrible murders, obviously motivated by antisemitism, must stop… There is no place for hatred and radicalism in the USA,” US President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that authorities would bring those responsible for the “brazen act of cowardly and antisemitic violence” to justice.

Trump Speaks Out
Following the terrorist attack, US President Donald Trump also commented.
“These horrible D.C. killings, based obviously on antisemitism, must end, NOW! Hatred and radicalism have no place in the USA. My condolences to the victims’ families. It’s sad that such things can happen. God bless you ALL,” Trump wrote.
His post was shared on the White House’s official X account.

The victims, a man and a woman, were shot as they were leaving an event at the Capital Jewish Museum, sources told CBS, a BBC partner, adding that the incident appeared to be a targeted attack.
The shooting occurred at 9:05 PM local time in an area known for its numerous tourist attractions, museums, and government institutions, including the FBI’s regional office in Washington.
