DIASPORA, YOUR VOTE COUNTS TOO! Here is everything you need to know if you want to vote from abroad!

All Serbian citizens living abroadcan exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections, but the entire process requires checking your documents in time and submitting an application.

The first step is to check your registration in the Unified Voter Registry. Along with checking the registry, it is also necessary to check the validity period of your personal documents. A valid ID card or passport is required for voting, so bear in mind that the procedure for issuing a new passport through an embassy or consulate abroad can take up to 60 days.

Immediately after the elections are officially called, the deadline for registering voters outside Serbia begins. A request to have an entry added to the voter registry stating that you will vote abroad must be submitted to the relevant diplomatic-consular mission no later than 20 days before election day, with the form containing your personal information, address in Serbia, and address of residence abroad.

Local polling stations outside Serbia are designated by the Republic Electoral Commission at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the basic requirement for opening a polling station is that at least 100 voters register at that location. Therefore, it is important to keep the confirmation email or decision regarding your registration and, before voting, check the exact location of the polling station once it is published.

On election day itself, voting is personal and secret. In the event of any irregularities or unjustified prevention of voting, contact the members of the polling station committee at the location, while an official objection seeking the annulment of voting at that polling station must be submitted to the Republic Electoral Commission within 72 hours of the closing of the polling stations.
