Sia Paradinović, an eleven-year-old girl from Belgrade, has been pushing boundaries for years – but not because of some records or trends, but because of something much rarer. Although she is only in the fifth grade of elementary school, Sia has proven that there is no stronger “flex” than kindness! This is shown by her latest action, which involves the renovation of the school library of the “Kralj Petar Prvi” Elementary School, which she herself attends.
For seven years, Sia has been delighting the world with her multimedia works and humanity, and a video about her new gesture published on the Instagram page “Ljudski” (Human) does not stop eliciting reactions. However, behind a few minutes of footage lie years of work, talent, and the support of a family that knew from the very beginning how to direct her creativity.
“Before this post burns up with comments like: ‘How can a child renovate a library?’ and similar, take two minutes for the whole story about my friend,” her school friend said in a video published on the aforementioned Instagram page, which became viral overnight.
Favorite childhood game – art
As revealed in the video, Sia was born in 2014, and from a young age, she showed exceptional creativity. Her dad noticed that she was skilled at juggling, and together they encouraged her imagination through painting and sculpting.
Already at the age of six, her favorite game became art, and her parents Milica and Ika gave her a tablet to try her hand at digital art. Unlike parents who completely ban screens for children, Sia’s parents believed in a moderate and creative use of technology – as a window to the world, rather than a replacement for childhood.
“Then Sia’s parents thrust a tablet into her hands, but not so they could drink soy latte frappuccinos in peace, but for her to try doodling digitally with that little pen,” says her friend.
Attracted world attention with her works
At nine years old, Sia’s fantastic creatures and magical worlds went out onto the internet for the first time through an NFT collection. Her works immediately attracted the attention of collectors around the world, leading to collaborations with notable artists from Asia and America and allowing Sia to earn her first pocket money.
Instead of rushing off to buy her favorite toy with her first pocket money like many of her peers, Sia, together with her parents, decided to invest all the money in humanitarian projects – she donated the proceeds to a dog shelter, participated in an international action to protect the natural habitat of axolotls, helped raise funds for a skate park in Uganda, as well as in numerous actions for the protection of nature, animals, and conservation.
She also held her first solo exhibition in Belgrade in 2024, and later that same year, she participated in the thirteenth collective exhibition “Bears in Honor of Spring” with a new digital print for which an auction was opened.
This year, Sia is directing all proceeds from her works toward purchasing new books for the school library of the “Kralj Petar Prvi” Elementary School. That is why she and her friends are calling on everyone to get involved and help in renovating the shelves and refreshing the library’s collection.
As much as 120,000 dinars collected
Eleven-year-old artist Sia Paradinović launched an auction for the sale of her artwork to help renovate the school library and collected as much as 120,000 dinars.
Sia says that the idea for the auction where she sold her multimedia works came completely spontaneously, and that this is not the first time her works have been sold for humanitarian purposes.
However, the action to renovate the library at “Kralj Petar Prvi” Elementary School does not end here, as the school principal Nenad Matić says it is still possible to donate books.
“Now we have focused on the donation of physical books, so some publishing houses have offered themselves, as well as private individuals who will bring them to the school hall where they will be taken over by Sia’s homeroom teacher, Serbian teacher Aleksandra Živković,” states the principal.
Partizan supported the action as well
A special guest in the “Golden Chair” was Sia Paradinović, a young artist who donates all the money from the sale of her works for the renovation of the library of the “Kralj Petar Prvi” ES. Sia appealed to publishers to help fill the shelves, showing that her creativity has not only artistic but also deep human value.
KK Partizan also joined the action, and first-team player Mitar Bošnjaković presented Sia with an OTP Bank check for 50,000 dinars. With this gesture, the black-and-whites once again stood by the youngest heroes, extending a hand of support to the girl who is restoring the cultural treasure of her school with her talent.
