We regret to inform the public that the Balkan restaurant “Skadarliya,” which for years was one of the main gathering places for the Serbian and Balkan community in Chicago, is officially ceasing operations.
This catering establishment was recognizable as a center of social life for our people in Chicago, a place where nostalgia was cured with home-cooked cuisine and numerous events were held. Our portal, Serbian Times, organized various cultural events intended for the diaspora in this very space.

The restaurant’s management addressed the public with an official statement:
“Our dear guests and friends, we inform you that the restaurant Skadarliya will no longer be operating. Thank you for the trust you have shown us, your support, and all the beautiful moments we shared together. It was our honor to host you and be a part of your memories. Your Skadarliya”
On this occasion, we contacted the restaurant owner, Nenad Bojkovski, who confirmed this information and briefly commented on the decision to close:
“We are going into history. It’s time for retirement. Thank you to all our guests and friends,” Bojkovski stated for Serbian Times.
