All opposition actors are obliged to act responsibly toward the election result through their decisions, so that votes are not wasted, the Students in Blockade*** say.***

Early parliamentary elections in Serbia have not yet been called, but according to statements by state officials, they are expected to be held on October 25. It has been known for some time that a new actor will appear in these elections – the Students in Blockade with their student list.

They will also have the support of certain opposition parties, which have decided not to participate in the elections but instead call on their supporters to cast their votes for the student list. It still does not seem entirely clear in what format the remaining opposition parties will participate in the early elections.

Asked about possible post-election cooperation with other opposition lists, the Students in Blockade told N1: “It is clear to everyone that post-election coalitions can only be considered if the electoral threshold is passed. We took care of ours a long time ago, however, the results of all polls are not exactly giving the other actors a boost.”

Emphasizing that they do not interfere in the decisions of other organizations, the Students in Blockade say they believe that “all opposition actors are obliged to act responsibly toward the election result through their decisions, so that votes are not wasted in elections in which the choice is between Serbia and the mafia and in which every percentage point matters.”

“A wrong decision at this moment could have a devastating effect, not only on those parties, but also on the historic opportunity that we as a society have. We hope that everyone will ultimately make their assessments and decisions conscientiously and in the interests of citizens, rather than in their own personal interests,” the Students in Blockade state.

They also emphasize that they are waging their struggle with the same values and goals with which they began it. “That is how we will continue until victory, because students are winning,” the Students in Blockade say.

The Students in Blockade previously told N1 that the student list of 250 names had already been completed months ago and that it would be published only after the elections are called, in accordance with legal deadlines and their strategy

Among the parliamentary opposition parties, the Democratic Party and the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia have given their support to the student list. Their MPs, along with several independent members of parliament, have also formed a parliamentary group called “MPs with the Students: For Election Control.”

The Green-Left Front has also supported the student list, emphasizing, however, that this support is not unconditional.

Among the non-parliamentary parties, the student list has been supported by Boris Tadić’s Social Democratic Party, as well as the Kreni-Promeni and Dveri movements.

As for the other opposition parties, it is certain that the New Democratic Party of Serbia (NDSS) and the Monarchists will run together in the elections as the “Authentic Right.”

The pro-European opposition, on the other hand, appears at this point to be heading into the elections in two blocs: one is expected to consist of the Party of Freedom and Justice, Serbia Center SRCE, the Movement of Free Citizens, and the Solidarity movement, united in the Platform for a European Serbia; while the other will consist of the People’s Movement of Serbia, the Ecological Uprising, and New Face of Serbia, which form the alliance People’s Serbia.
