At least 18 people were injured when a former student (19) opened fire at a school in Turkey, and according to the latest information, the attacker took his own life after the shooting.
The shooting took place at the “Ahmet Koyuncu” vocational and technical school in the Siverek district of Sanliurfa province, in the southeast of the country. Hundreds of students were evacuated after the incident, and the attacker—about whom there are no known details yet other than that he is a student—fired from a hunting rifle, writes the British newspaper “Daily Mail.”

According to the Turkish “Hurriyet,” the attacker entered the school and opened fire randomly, resulting in injuries. Numerous medical and police special operations units were sent to the area. The Governor of Sanliurfa, Hasan Sildak, announced that the attacker took his own life. He was 19 years old.

According to Daily Mail reports, at least 18 people were wounded, including students.
Turkish media state that the attacker is a former student of the school and that he committed suicide.

Local media stated moments before that that the attacker remained in the school building after the shooting and was holding some of the students as hostages.
