High-tech crime inspectors have been searching the home of student Andrej Premović in Raška for several hours, suspecting, according to his father, that he created a website publishing a list of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) “bots,” the Razglas news portal reported this morning.
Police arrived outside the Premović family home at around 4 a.m., when the search began.
According to the student’s family members, the inspectors did not show them a search warrant. They are currently waiting for a decision from the competent authorities before seizing electronic devices and taking them for forensic examination.
Last year, Andrej Premović was named the top student of his graduating class at the Raška Gymnasium.
He won a gold medal at the first Cybersecurity Olympiad, held in Singapore, and also received recognition from the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts for his achievements during his education.
Ninić told N1 that at around 7 a.m. this morning, he spoke by phone with Andrej Premović and one of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) inspectors who was present at the Premović family’s apartment in Raška.
“I was partially informed at that point about the contents of the order issued by the prosecutor from the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, and I can say that there are allegedly grounds for suspicion that Andrej is behind the database and the ‘ocisti.net’ website. The case is being handled by a prosecutor and high-tech crime inspectors, but at this point there are no grounds to search the family home until valid court orders have been obtained,” Ninić said.
He said that in the coming hours they would find out whether and when Andrej would be brought before the prosecutor’s office in Belgrade.
It should be recalled that the new website ocisti.net published a database from the bot platform progress.rs. According to an analysis published by Vreme, it showed that hundreds of employees at public institutions were actually working for the Serbian Progressive Party’s bot army during working hours.
Meanwhile, yesterday, on the penultimate day of the election campaign, arrest operations were carried out in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Vrnjačka Banja. In all three locations, opposition activists were reportedly among those arrested.
