The Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) has proclaimed the list called “Studentska lista – Studenti pobeđuju,” which will be in position number three on the ballot for the snap parliamentary election.
All 19 RIK members present voted in favor of proclaiming the list. The session began at 8:25 p.m., with all 19 members in attendance, N1 reported.
Marija Jovanović, a member of the RIK, said at the beginning of the session that the total number of legally valid signatures submitted by the students was 69,099.
As a reminder, students marched yesterday, together with citizens, from the Rectorate to the RIK building. A large crowd of citizens accompanied the students and the signatures they had collected across Serbia in recent days. The Archive of Public Gatherings announced that there were 8,700 people in the procession.
At around 7:30 p.m., the students submitted their electoral list with 250 candidates for members of parliament.
They celebrated the submission of the signatures together with citizens, accompanied by trumpet players and traditional dancing in front of the RIK building.
The list includes professors, doctors, artists, activists, entrepreneurs and people from different parts of Serbia.
As the students stated, the candidates were not chosen by party leaders, nor was the list compiled behind closed doors. Instead, they arrived at the names through a decision-making process they had developed over more than a year of blockades, plenums, discussions and joint work.
The first name on the list is Professor Dr. Ilija Srdanović, who supported the students from the beginning of the blockades and later spoke at their protests and rallies.
