WITH THE MONEY OF CITIZENS WHO HAVE NO WATER: Čačak spent two million on a Breskvica concert, but only around 60 people attended!

Civic activist and independent opposition councilor in the Čačak City Assembly Pavle Jelesijević announced today that around 60 people attended the concert by pop-folk singer Breskvica in the city, which was paid for with 2.1 million dinars from the city’s budget.

“This means that the concert cost around 33,500 dinars per attendee. A disgrace and a shame,” Jelesijević stated in a release, adding that the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) “spends all citizens’ money as if their grandfather had left it to them as an inheritance.”

Yesterday, the office of Čačak Mayor Vladan Milić informed the media to “remind the public that on Saturday, August 29, a concert by Anđela Ignjatović Breskvica will be held in Čačak at the City Beach, organized by the Čačak Tourist Organization, and that admission is free.”

The Čačak City Board of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) previously assessed that the city authorities were spending money from the city budget “irrationally” on a concert by pop-folk singer Breskvica, for which around 18,000 euros had been allocated from the city budget, while citizens were dealing with the consequences of fires and water restrictions.

“The SSP in Čačak strongly opposes such irrational and inappropriate spending of budget funds, as well as the collection of political points ‘on the backs’ of citizens,” the SSP statement said.
