Aleksandra Perisic (23), Serbia’s best taekwondo fighter, won a bronze medal at the European Championship, which began today in Munich.
The Olympic silver medalist achieved two victories in the category up to 67 kilograms, which was enough for a medal. She first defeated the Lithuanian Tvaronaviciute 2:0 in rounds, and then the Pole Julia Nowak, also 2:0, which was sufficient for a place in the semifinals.
On her way to the final, the now three-time bronze medalist at the European Championships (2022, 2024, and 2026) was stopped by the brilliant young Greek Styliani Maredaki, who later went on to win the gold. Along with Perisic, the best athlete of Montenegro for 2025, Andrea Berisaj, also won the bronze.
Zarko Krajisnik was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the category up to 68 kg by the super-talented Briton Matthew Howell, with a score of 2:1. Previously, he had defeated the Lithuanian Laucevicius and the Dane Tobias Hyttel.
Milos Golubovic passed the first round in the absolute category (over 87 kilograms) against the Slovak Hanusovsky, but in the round of 16, he ran into the Olympic silver medalist Caden Cunningham (23) from Great Britain, who later defended his title from Belgrade (2024).
Young Iva Brajovic was eliminated in the very first round of the category up to 48 kilograms, as the Azerbaijani Minaya Akbarova was better than her.
