Anderson Taylor from Cambridge, Illinois, has officially been entered into the Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest museum curator.

The dinosaur-loving schoolboy opened the Cambridge Natural History Museum on August 10, 2024, when he was just nine years and 340 days old. He is also the museum’s sole owner and curator.

The museum features fossils, minerals, artifacts, natural history specimens, and educational exhibits.

Speaking to Guinness World Records, Anderson explained what inspired him to create his own museum.

“When I was in Scotland, I visited the Staffin Dinosaur Museum, and that’s what inspired me to create this museum. I’ve been interested in dinosaurs and fossils my whole life,” Anderson said.

He also explained that the first step was finding a suitable location:

“First, I found a building after giving many presentations at the local town office. The building used to be a fire station, then a village hall, and now it’s a museum. After that, people started donating display items and showcases, and about a month later we also began receiving financial support,” the boy said.

Anderson, who is now 11 years old, is currently raising funds to purchase the building that houses the museum. So far, he has already raised $20,000, according to Euronews.

He also revealed that he hopes to take his passion for dinosaurs and fossils to the next level by becoming a paleontologist one day. Until then, he says, he’ll have to “settle” for being a Guinness World Record holder.
