In Niš, it is a Day of Mourning on the occasion of the death of twenty-one-year-old Niš native Jovana Stanković, who died in a traffic accident in Montenegro. Flags on the buildings of institutions in the city have been lowered to half-mast, and musical and other entertainment programs have been canceled.
The City of Niš has offered all necessary assistance to the family of the deceased young woman, as well as to the families of the other passengers who were injured in the traffic accident on July 12, while returning from Ostrog in Montenegro.
“The Cabinet of the Mayor of Niš is in constant contact with the Embassy of Serbia in Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which have been providing assistance to the families from the very first moment,” the statement said.
It added that the City of Niš, the University Clinical Center Niš, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Serbia in Montenegro have made all resources available so that the injured passengers could be transported to Niš.
In the meantime, the duty state prosecutor of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Kotor proposed ordering detention for the suspect who participated in the accident in Lipci, when one person died and 16 were injured.
The twenty-one-year-old girl Jovana Stanković from Vrtište near Niš died in an accident on the Lipci–Grahovo main road, while 16 people were injured.
The most seriously injured is a ten-year-old boy, who is undergoing treatment at the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
Out of 14 patients who were admitted to the Special Hospital “Vaso Ćuković” in Risan, three have been discharged for home treatment, while five people remain in intensive care.
