The Crvena zvezda basketball club has officialized a major reinforcement off the court. One of the best Serbian and European basketball players of all time, Miloš Teodosić, has been appointed as the new sports director of the club from Mali Kalemegdan.
Only a year after finishing his brilliant playing career, which he concluded precisely in the jersey of Crvena zvezda, Teodosić returns among the red-and-whites in a new, extremely responsible role. As the first man of the sports sector, he will be in charge of creating the club’s sports policy and further strengthening the system that should bring new successes on the domestic and European scene.
-First of all, thank you to the club for the trust shown. Thanks also to the numerous fans for all the messages of support that I received in the last seven days. I will try to justify that trust and to always give my maximum for Crvena zvezda – Teodosić said.
The legendary playmaker pointed out that he sees a new chapter ahead of him after his playing career and that his goal is not to make big promises, but to justify expectations with results.
-I am opening a new chapter, after my playing career, in which I will try to put all my capacities at the service of Crvena zvezda. My manner has never been to promise and to use words that everyone likes. I know where I have come, and I know what Zvezda’s goals and motives always are. Those will be my goals and motives as well. There will be no big words, which please and intoxicate at the moment, but my goal is deeds that will remain written in the history of Crvena zvezda.
He added that a big job is ahead of the club and called on the fans to continue providing support to the team.
-There is not much talk, we have to work. A big job is ahead of us and I hope that at the end of the road we will all be able to rejoice together. I am convinced that our quality and, above all, honest approach will be followed by full stands and great support, because we need it. My great wish is for all of us Zvezda fans to breathe as one and to rejoice all together – Teodosić said.
During the two seasons spent in the red-and-white jersey, Teodosić left a deep mark on the club, winning the ABA League, two Radivoj Korać Cups, and the title of champion of Serbia. His rich career is marked by winning the EuroLeague, numerous medals with the national team of Serbia, and the status of one of the best playmakers that European basketball has ever had.
The president of Crvena zvezda, Željko Drčelić, pointed out that the appointment of Teodosić as sports director is an important step in the further development of the club.
-The arrival of Miloš Teodosić to our and his Crvena zvezda is a big step for the club. Crvena zvezda and Miloš Teodosić are a natural match after the end of his great playing career. Even a year ago in conversations, he recognized the vision we want to achieve and saw himself as an important part of the system we are building. He will have the maximum support of everyone in the club in order to implement his ideas and help Crvena zvezda be even stronger – Drčelić said.
In the position of sports director, Teodosić will succeed Milan Dozet, whom the club thanked for his great work, energy, and dedication during his mandate.
