A group of 90 people, a part of whom is registered as persons of security interest, and who arrived in Montenegro this morning on a charter flight from Belgrade, will be returned from Tivat to the Serbian capital on the first flight.
The Police Directorate banned them from entering Montenegro, which is why they were detained at the Tivat Airport.
The group that arrived by charter flight in Tivat did not want to answer the police’s questions regarding the purpose of their arrival in Montenegro.
Strong police forces are keeping Tivat Airport under control and inspected the flight from Belgrade due to, as a police source told “Vijesti”, suspicion of hybrid activity.
According to the data available to the Police Directorate, the persons on the flight, who mostly have criminal records, had the task of informally securing the stay of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, at the EU – Western Balkans Summit in Tivat.
“They have been banned from entering. They will be returned to Belgrade on the first flight,” said the interlocutor of Vijesti from the top of the Police Directorate.
“The Montenegrin police are conducting extensive continuous and reinforced activities regarding the holding of the EU – Western Balkans Summit. In this context, reinforced controls are being conducted at the Tivat Airport border crossing, during which a charter flight on the Belgrade – Tivat route, by which around 90 citizens of the Republic of Serbia arrived in Montenegro this morning, was singled out and put under control. Controls of these persons and verification of the grounds for their arrival and stay are underway, and comprehensive measures and actions, as well as restrictive measures if there are legal grounds for it, will be taken in accordance with the law. The plane was detained on the runway of Tivat Airport in order to conduct detailed checks of the persons who arrived, i.e., the reasons for their visit, keeping in mind the reinforced security measures ahead of the EU – Western Balkans Summit. The public will be informed in a timely manner about further activities taken,” the Police Directorate previously announced.
