Students have announced the “Students’ Plan,” an 11-point document that represents the backbone of their program, focusing on the fight against corruption, strengthening institutions, education, and Serbia’s economic development.
As they stated, the plan is divided into three sections – “Serbia or the Mafia,” “Knowledge Is Power,” and “Serbia Grows With Us.”
In presenting the program, the students state that the canopy collapse was an event that revealed the true state of society and the consequences of corruption, party-based employment, and incompetence, but also sparked their fight for justice.
Three areas of the “Students’ Plan”
The first area, called “Serbia or the Mafia,” concerns the fight against corruption, strengthening institutions, and confiscating illegally acquired wealth.
The students claim that eradicating corruption in this way would free up hundreds of millions of euros that could be directed toward new public investments.
The second part of the plan, “Knowledge Is Power,” is dedicated to education and institutions. The students advocate for the depoliticization of institutions, free education, and reform of the education system which, as they state, would be based on professional expertise and the needs of the 21st century.
They also announced a fight against attacks on state universities and schools, with the message that they want to “put expertise back at the helm of the state.”
The third section is titled “Serbia Grows With Us” and concerns economic policy.
The students state that they advocate for balanced and planned development of a competitive market economy, based on the interests of Serbia and its citizens, rather than, as they claim, on individual agreements between the authorities and their associates.
Where and when will the “Students’ Plan” be presented?
The “Students’ Plan” will be presented to citizens across Serbia from September 15 to 19.
According to the announced schedule, the plan will be distributed:
- September 15 in Vojvodina
- September 16 in eastern Serbia
- September 17 in western Serbia
- September 18 in southern Serbia
- September 19 in Belgrade and central Serbia
The students emphasize that the document was not created “behind closed doors” and are calling on citizens to familiarize themselves with its contents.
“We know what is wrong. We know what needs to be changed. And, most importantly – we know how,” the students stated.
