ELECTIONS ARE COMING SO YOU CAN VOTE IN THE DIASPORA! Gather and register 100 people in your city and open a polling station!

Serbian citizens living abroad abroad*** can exercise their right to vote, but voting outside Serbia requires timely registration. A polling station abroad is opened in a place where a sufficient number of voters, namely at least 100 people, register before the elections are called.***

If a sufficient number of voters do not register on time, a polling station in that city will not be opened, meaning citizens will remain tied to the polling station in Serbia where they are registered in the electoral roll. This can be a particular problem in countries such as the United States and Canada, where the distance between cities in which voting takes place can be several thousand kilometers.

What is needed to register?

On the list available via the LINK, it is necessary to find the city where there is interest in voting.

By clicking on the name of the city, it is possible to send an email with the following information:

first and last name;
the city where the person wishes to vote;
information on whether they possess a valid Serbian ID card or passport.

For some cities, a Google form is available, in which the same information needs to be entered.

To ensure a sufficient number of registered voters, information about the registration can be forwarded to other Serbian citizens living in the same city and surrounding area.

In addition, it is important to check registration in the Unified Voters’ Register, as well as the validity period of personal documents. A valid Serbian ID card or passport is required for voting, and the procedure for issuing a new passport through an embassy or consulate abroad can take up to 60 days.

After the elections are officially called, the registration period begins for voters who wish to vote outside Serbia. A request to have information entered into the electoral register indicating that the voter will vote abroad must be submitted to the relevant diplomatic-consular mission no later than 20 days before election day.

Local polling stations outside Serbia are determined by the Republic Electoral Commission at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
