There are more and more young people born in exile in Serbia who decide to move to their grandfather’s and father’s land in Croatia. That is how Nikola Manojlović came to live in Manojlovići near Kistanje three years ago. This 26-year-old from Zemun decided to exchange his diploma for a pasture. He was born in 2000 in Zemun near Belgrade, writes VIDA TV.

He lacked nothing in Serbia, but he found happiness, peace, and personal fulfillment on his grandfather’s land. Three years ago, he came to his grandfather’s village to help his father with the olives, but he decided to leave his city habits behind, get animals, and redesign his life far from the city.

-I’ve been here for three years and I’ve never been happier. In Serbia, I had everything that, on paper, a person needs for happiness, but here I am the happiest. From four cows we reached more than 20 in three years, I also got donkeys, I have a good job, I have a girlfriend, everything is progressing better than I expected.

In addition to engaging in agriculture and animal husbandry, Nikola works as a geronto-assistant to the helpless within the “Zaželi” project.

Modern technology also helps him in successfully engaging in animal husbandry (from a herd of four cows, he reached a herd of more than twenty Buša cows in three years). Literally at any moment, he can see on his mobile phone the location in nature where his cows are grazing.

Although he is aware that rural life does not suit everyone, he is convinced that the only true future for humans is in the countryside.

-Here, life is work, and in the city, work is life. In my opinion, people in the city are not happy – Nikola concluded.
