BRAVO, CHAMPIONS! Young Serbian rowers win four silver and four bronze medals at the Balkan Championships!

Young Serbian national team rowers won eight medals, four silver and four bronze, at the Balkan Rowing Championships, held last weekend in Plovdiv, the Rowing Federation of Serbia announced today.

The silver medals were won by the junior women’s four, junior men’s four, junior women’s double sculls, and cadet men’s quadruple sculls, while the bronze medals went to the junior men’s double sculls, cadet men’s four, junior women’s pair, and junior mixed eight.

Serbia finished fifth in the overall standings with 44 points, behind Greece (102), Türkiye (94), Romania (88), and Bulgaria (54).

Eight national teams competed at the championship.

“We can be satisfied with the result achieved, especially considering that we competed with young rowers and young coaches who are only gaining international experience. Of course, we were hoping for a gold medal as well, and we will do everything we can to fulfill that wish next year,” said coordinator for the younger selection categories Aleksandar Ivković.

Rowing Federation of Serbia President Marko Marjanović said that the eight medals confirm the quality and potential of the younger categories, while he described the result in Plovdiv as a good conclusion to the official international season for cadets and juniors.

Serbian rowing won medals in the senior, under-23, junior, and cadet categories throughout 2026.

Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov have yet to finish their international season, as they will compete at the “World Rowing Shanghai Sprints” in Shanghai on September 26 and 27 as members of the World Team.
