Five-year-old Srđan Jovanović from Kuzmin needs help to take his first steps and continue his treatment and necessary therapies.
Srđan suffers from cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and hydrocephalus, and previous therapies have shown results.
In five years, he has been treated in Turkey five times, undergoing numerous surgeries.
There has been progress, says his mother, he was like a plant, but now Srđan can sit, say his first words, and roll over from his stomach to his back. Four months ago, he leaned on his feet for the first time.
“When I saw him that day standing for a few minutes, I started crying because it’s something that’s normal for children, and yet he, at the age of five, was able to stand for the first time,” says Milica Jovanović, Srđan’s mother.

Daily therapies, exercises, medications, from hospitals to spas, are their journey. The family has the will and strength, but not enough funds to continue treatment.
“For Srđan to be able to stand on his own feet, he needs to continue treatment in Turkey, he needs to receive another dose of botulinum toxin in both legs. After that, robotics awaits him, which is necessary for him to walk, physical therapies await him in the meantime, and in order to do all that, we need funds. One important thing in all this is that a child who has cerebral palsy like Srđan has, it’s a diagnosis for a lifetime, we have been fighting with all three diagnoses for five years,” says Srđan’s mother.
With the help of the “Humanity in Action” foundation, part of the funds has been raised, but not enough to go to Turkey for three months.
To help Srđan take his first step, you can send an SMS with the number 90 to 2407 or make a donation to the dinar or foreign currency account.
