The Higher Public Prosecution Office in Belgrade announced the chronology of events related to the disappearance of Aleksandar Nešović Baja, who is suspected of being murdered, although the body, according to official information, has not yet been found.

The wife of the missing Aleksandar Nešović (who was designated with the initials A. N. in the statement of the VJT) reported his disappearance to the police around 4 p.m. on May 13, 2026, the prosecution announced.

The police, as stated, informed the First Basic Public Prosecution Office in Belgrade about the report.

Following the initial checks of the given report, the prosecution states, the police informed the Higher Public Prosecution Office in Belgrade on the same day at 8:47 p.m. that Aleksandar Nešković’s wife had reported his disappearance and that there were indications that he had participated in an event in which firearms were used after 11 p.m. on May 12 in the “27” restaurant in Senjak.

The acting public prosecutor of the VJT in Belgrade, as stated, went to conduct an inspection at the “27” restaurant in Senjak at 9:09 p.m.

“In this regard, the VJT in Belgrade warns that inaccurate, arbitrary, fabricated, and malicious interpretations of the event, as well as the actions of the investigative authorities in the media and on social networks, represent a serious attempt to damage the credibility of the ongoing investigation,” the statement emphasizes.

The VJT also states that everyone who contributed in any way to the commission of the criminal offense of Aggravated Murder to the detriment of A.N., or who participated in any way in its concealment or assisted its perpetrators, will be identified and prosecuted.

“The VJT in Belgrade points out that sensationalist media publications and speculations that endanger the investigation and are aimed at manipulating public opinion, which have been present in the public space for days, are impermissible and unacceptable,” the statement reads, adding that the VJT will inform the public about all relevant and established facts in a timely manner.

What do we know about the Senjak case from before?

The Higher Public Prosecution Office issued its first statement to the public regarding the shooting in the restaurant in Senjak on May 14.

According to the VJT statement, Aleksandar Nešković visited the restaurant in Senjak on the night between May 12 and 13.

The now-dismissed chief of the Belgrade Police, Veselin Milić, who was ordered into custody, was arrested on May 15.

As a reminder, Nešović is suspected of being killed in the “27” restaurant in Senjak. It is suspected that he was shot by Saša Vuković, known as Boske, in the presence of the until recently chief of the Belgrade police, Veselin Milić, who, along with three other police officers from his security detail, is suspected of participating in removing the traces of the crime.

Since Nešović’s body has not yet been found, the VJT qualified the crime in Senjak in its statements as attempted aggravated murder. However, in one of the subsequent statements from the VJT regarding the launching of an investigation against 10 suspects in this case, it is stated that grounds for suspicion exist that they committed various criminal offenses in connection with the criminal offense of Aggravated Murder committed to the detriment of A.N. (Aleksandar Nešović, N1 note).

All suspects have been questioned, and nine of them have been ordered into custody, while one of the suspects is under house arrest.

The police and army have been searching for days for the body, which, according to official statements, has not yet been found.
