HIDING THE TRUTH ABOUT RATKO MLADIĆ’S DEATH OR SOMETHING ELSE? Dutch authorities will not perform an autopsy on the deceased general’s body!

The International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals in The Hague announced that the Dutch authorities will not open a criminal investigation or perform an autopsy regarding the death of Ratko Mladić, while on the other hand, the Mechanism has ordered an extensive internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

Mladić died on August 27, 2026, while undergoing hospital treatment in the Netherlands. According to the official statement, Dutch authorities immediately initiated standard procedures provided for under their national legislation. A day later, on August 28, it was officially confirmed that no criminal investigation would be opened and that no autopsy would be performed.

In parallel with these procedures, on Thursday, the President of the Mechanism, Judge Graciela Gatti Santana, ordered a full investigation into the circumstances of Mladić’s death.

Judge Ian Bonomy has been assigned to the case. He arrived in The Hague on Friday and immediately began the investigation, which included a visit to the United Nations Detention Unit and the prison hospital.

The Mechanism noted in its statement that the investigation is still ongoing and that all further details regarding it will remain strictly confidential until further notice.

Officials of the Mechanism have been in regular contact with Ratko Mladić’s family since his death. The discussions also cover procedures concerning the transfer of his remains, but the institution stressed that at this time it is unable to provide any further information to the public regarding these matters.
