Serbian-American Melissa Luburić Bean scored a decisive victory in today’s election for the U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois’ 8th Congressional District, securing a record-breaking fourth term representing her constituents in Washington!

She received 88,639 votes (65.90%), while her Republican challenger, Jennifer Davis, received 45,857 votes (34.10%).

Following her election victory, Melissa Bean issued the following statement:

“With our democracy being put to the test, voters in the 8th District turned out and sent a clear and unequivocal message: it is time to get our country back on track. I am deeply honored and grateful that people made their voices heard tonight and decided to send me back to Congress to represent them in 2027.

The people of Illinois are not asking for the impossible. They want affordable healthcare, housing and education. A healthy planet for our children and grandchildren. A government that works in everyone’s interests, without corruption or cruelty. The good news is that these challenges are entirely solvable. With dedicated work and a focus on problem-solving, Congress can make this happen, and I am ready to get straight to work to achieve it,” Melissa Luburić Bean said, adding:

“Tonight, we are one step closer to turning our country around — restoring the American Dream, reclaiming our American values and Constitution, and doing the practical work necessary to ensure that everyone in this country has the opportunity for the future they deserve.”

Mrs. Luburić Bean is the second Serbian-American woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress, and she has now won a fourth term, making her the most successful woman of Serbian descent in American politics. She served six years in the House of Representatives, from 2005 to 2011, before stepping away from politics to focus on her family and business. She returned to politics this year.
