An appeal from his family appeared on social media yesterday, stating that Nikolić had gone missing the previous afternoon and that they had received no information about him since.
“According to initial information, Dario left his village for Šabac to get a haircut and was last seen at the BIG shopping center. After that, all trace of him was lost. The last contact with his family was around 4 p.m., when he spoke to his mother. From that moment on, his phone has been unreachable, and he has not returned home,” the appeal stated.
Nikolić’s father also said that his son had left the village to get a haircut and confirmed that they had reported his disappearance to the police.
According to unofficial information, Dario Nikolić from Bela Reka, near Šabac, is suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack outside the Israeli Embassy. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at around 12:15 a.m. in Belgrade, the suspect attacked a member of the Gendarmerie guarding the Israeli Embassy with two knives. Acting Interior Minister Ivica Dačić described the attack as a terrorist act, and the Gendarmerie officer neutralized Nikolić.

Prosecutor’s Office issues statement
The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade announced that its duty prosecutor had conducted an on-site investigation at the location where, according to the statement, “at around 12:15 a.m. last night, a police officer from the Belgrade Gendarmerie detachment, D. S., who was guarding the embassy, was attacked outside the Israeli Embassy.”
The statement said that the attacker charged at the Gendarmerie officer with two knives. He threw one of them at the officer, cutting his face.
“D. S. then drew his service weapon and fired several shots at the attacker, killing him at the scene. D. S. sustained an injury in the form of a cut to his left cheek. Following the on-site investigation, it was determined that the use of the service firearm was justified in self-defense. Work to establish all the circumstances of the incident is continuing,” the statement said.
Second attack on a Gendarmerie officer outside the Israeli Embassy
As a reminder, this is the second attempted terrorist attack on the Israeli Embassy in just two years. The first occurred on June 29, 2024, when Miloš Žujović, whose religious name was Salahudin, shot Gendarmerie officer Miloš Jevremović, 34, in the neck with a crossbow outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade. He was also carrying a knife.
The wounded Gendarmerie officer, who was on duty, used his weapon in self-defense and subdued the attacker, who later died from his injuries.
