Robert Šebek, president of the parliamentary group of the Freedom and Justice Party in the Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, said that, according to information available to his party, the kitchen of the “Kolevka” Home in Subotica had been designated to prepare 1,500 sandwiches for the SNS rally in Novi Sad, and that after the rally was canceled, the bread rolls purchased for that purpose were given to the residents of “Kolevka”, with instructions that they be served to them over the next five days instead of fresh bread.

“SSP is directly asking the director of ‘Kolevka’, Stojan Soković: where do you get the audacity and the nerve to turn the kitchen of an institution where meals are prepared for children into a facility for political favors? Since when have children with developmental disabilities at ‘Kolevka’ become a cover for party business and the carrying out of shameful tasks?”, Šebek asked, adding:

“What the Serbian Progressive Party has been doing in Subotica for some time now has nothing to do with politics. This is a matter of basic humanity. Turning a home for the most vulnerable children into a factory for making sandwiches and a storage facility for stale excess food is a shameful humiliation of both the children and the institution whose purpose is to protect them. Gentlemen from the Progressives, is there any depth you are not willing to sink to?”, Šebek asked, adding that the SSP demands an urgent extraordinary inspection at the “Kolevka” Home, an official explanation from the management and concrete accountability from director Stojan Soković.

“Children are not there to pay the price for someone else’s political blunders, and that is why we will not remain silent about this,” Šebek concluded.
