I.M. was arrested today in Zvečan, with the Kosovo Police and Special Prosecutor’s Office accusing him of attacks on KFOR and Kosovo Police personnel during the events in the north in May 2023.
He is charged with four criminal offenses, including attacking an official, participating in a crowd committing a criminal offense and hooliganism, as well as endangering a person under international protection.

The manner in which the police presented the arrest has also drawn attention. Photographs of I.M. shirtless and in handcuffs were released, making the tattoos on his back visible. Among them was “1389,” which the police additionally singled out and published as a separate, enlarged photograph.
1389 is the year of the Battle of Kosovo, one of the key events in Serbian history and collective memory.
The police did not explain why this particular tattoo was singled out, nor did it link it in its statement to the offenses I.M. is suspected of committing.
