Milan Ostojić Sandokan was wounded last night around 11 p.m. near a shopping center in Šabac, and as Telegraf.rs learns, an unknown man shot at him in a catering facility.
According to information obtained by Telegraf.rs, Sandokan was sitting in the bar when an unknown man (32) approached him and a scuffle ensued.
The man pulled out a pistol and shot Ostojić from behind, and after Sandokan fell, he fired several more bullets into him. Then, so that no one would approach him, he shot into the air, and then fled the scene.
The police launched Operation Whirlwind 3 and the search for the attacker is underway.
According to initial information, Sandokan and the man who shot do not know each other, and eyewitnesses of the attack claim that he is a local narcotics addict. For now, it is not known why he opened fire.
Also, the attacker of Sandokan was previously convicted and served a prison sentence of five years in Sremska Mitrovica.
As a reminder, one of the bullets passed through Ostojić’s body and exited through his stomach, and he also sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was urgently transported to the Šabac hospital, from where he was transferred last night to the VMA, where he underwent surgery. He is currently in stable condition and has been retained for further treatment.
As a reminder, Milan Ostojić, better known as Sandokan, was the leader of the so-called Šabac group, which in 2010 was accused of serious criminal offenses on the territory of Serbia.
Members of the group were accused of as many as five murders and drug trafficking. Ostojić was sentenced to 20 years in prison for instigating the murder of Siniša Kromek, while he was acquitted of charges for criminal association and drug trafficking.
In 2015, the Court of Appeal halved his sentence to 10 years. He released from prison in 2018.
