His selfless and extraordinary gesture consisted of canceling his flight to New York without a moment’s hesitation and returning from the airport straight to the operating room to perform an emergency procedure and save the life of his young patient. Remembering the joint feat of doctors from Serbia and Republika Srpska

As Blic Zdravlje reported on Monday, an eight-year-old boy from Republika Srpska found himself in a life-threatening situation when a sudden and dangerous blockage of an artery in his brain occurred. It is a condition that requires an immediate response, as every minute of delay carries the risk of permanent brain damage or a fatal outcome.

In this extremely difficult situation, a coordinated action involving healthcare institutions and specialists from Serbia and Republika Srpska was launched immediately. The boy was transported as an emergency patient so that he could receive the highest level of medical care.

The crucial moment of the drama came when Dr. Vukašinović was called for help. Although he was at the airport at the time and preparing to travel, he did not hesitate for a second — he turned around, canceled his flight and hurried back to the operating room.

Thanks to his quick response, exceptional expertise and the flawless cooperation of the entire medical team, a complicated procedure was performed and the blood clot was successfully removed. The boy was stabilized, and the rapid response prevented the serious consequences associated with such a condition.
