The Vice President of the Government of Serbia and Minister of Internal Affairs, Ivica Dačić, stated today that the national platform “Cyber Watch” has started operating, intended for reporting and preventing various forms of high-tech crime, strengthening digital security, and protecting citizens and the economy in the digital space.
The platform is available at the address https://sajberstraza.gov.rs, and as Dačić stated, it was designed as a single place where citizens and legal entities can report criminal offenses in the digital environment, but also receive information and warnings about security risks.
Dačić pointed out that the goal of the platform is not only reporting incidents, but also their prevention, faster threat detection, and more efficient reaction of the competent institutions. According to his words, through the platform, it will be possible to report internet fraud, account abuse, compromise of digital systems, malicious links and content, theft and abuse of personal data, digital violence, blackmail, and other incidents in the digital space.
He assessed that high-tech crime is no longer an isolated phenomenon, but a form of crime that affects citizens, the economy, and institutions, and that the internet represents a space where organized criminal groups and fraudsters operate.
Dačić stated that the platform, in addition to receiving reports, will also have a preventive and coordinating role, through the exchange of data between competent institutions, the financial sector, and the internet community.
As he specified, the platform will also enable the exchange of data on accounts and internet domains used for fraud and other illegal activities, in cooperation with the Association of Serbian Banks, banks, the Serbian National Internet Domain Registry, and internet providers.
“When it is determined that a certain account, domain, or digital resource is being used for fraud, the competent authorities will be able to react faster and take measures aimed at protecting citizens,” Dačić said.
The platform was realized on the initiative of the Service for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Technical Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in cooperation with the Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, with the support of the Council of Europe and UNOPS, it was stated in the announcement from Dačić’s cabinet. In the realization, as stated, the Office for Information Technologies and Electronic Government and the Information and Communication Technologies Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also participated.
Dačić assessed that “Cyber Watch” represents a new model of cooperation between citizens, institutions, and the private sector with the aim of a safer digital space in Serbia.
