SERBIA SHINES AT THE WORLD SAVATE CHAMPIONSHIPS: Nikola Vukčević is champion again, our national team wins four medals!

The French city of Boulogne-sur-Mer hosted the World Senior Assaut Savate Championships from September 9 to 12.

Around 250 competitors from 42 countries took part in the championships. After three days of competition, our national team won one gold, two silver and one bronze medal, finishing a highly impressive second in the overall standings, behind the hosts!

Nikola Vukčević won the gold medal and the title of World Champion in the +85 kg category after five bouts and five victories. Nikola proved that he belongs at the very top of world savate, becoming a senior world champion for the second time. The silver medals and titles of World Championship runners-up went to Lidia Abazovski in the -48 kg category, after four bouts (three wins and one narrow loss in the final), and Jelena Sedoglavić in the -75 kg category, after four bouts (three wins and one loss in the final). Arijana Otašević won the bronze medal in the -60 kg category after four bouts (two wins and two losses).

Our team also featured Nađa Begojev (-52 kg), Anja Lukić (-56 kg), Mihajlo Dodić (-70 kg), Jovan Stevanović (-75 kg), Radoje Stevanović (-80 kg) and Luka Babić (-85 kg), who were unable to fight their way to medals this time.

In addition to the competitors, our team was represented by head coach Miroslav Odžić, coach Dejan Gavrilović, federation president Srđan Nadrljanski, and referees Maja Odžić and Velimir Karanović.
