Goran Komazec (56) from Belgrade tragically lost his life on the beach in Sarti, Chalkidiki, trying to save a man he had never seen before in his life.

A family vacation turned into an unprecedented tragedy.

Cry for help interrupted a peaceful day

It all happened in a second. While Goran was enjoying the shore with his wife and son, a desperate cry echoed across the beach. A strong sea current began to relentlessly pull an unknown man into the depths.

While many watched the dangerous waves frozen in fear, Goran did not hesitate for a moment.

Without thinking of his own life, but only of helping a man in distress, he rushed into the rough sea. His minor son ran into the water after him.

The heart could not take it

According to unofficial information, after entering the cold water suddenly, due to massive shock and physical exertion, Goran’s heart stopped.

Rescuers and doctors quickly reacted, pulled him to the shore, and urgently transported him to the hospital, but unfortunately, there was no saving the unlucky man from Belgrade. Doctors could only declare him dead.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Thessaloniki was immediately informed of the terrible accident, placing itself fully at the disposal of the inconsolable family during these most difficult moments.
