Ognjen Rašuo, a member of the Commission for the Audit, Verification and Accuracy and Updating of the Voter Register, said that the number of valid ID cards in Serbia had increased by 235,000 in just over four months.

“I asked the police twice for data on the number of valid ID cards. The Ministry of Internal Affairs provided me with two figures – on May 18, the number was 5,990,000, and on September 28, it was 6,225,000,” Rašuo wrote on X.

He added that he had also asked at a commission meeting whether the figure was accurate and requested that it be checked.

“Could someone in the police have accidentally entered 6,225,000 instead of 6,025,000? Not only have they failed to correct it, but they don’t even see anything suspicious. Everything is fine with them,” he wrote.

Rašuo says there is “absolutely no rational explanation for such a large increase in the number of ID cards.”
