On the fence of the church property in Lipjan in Kosovo, where the Church of Saints Florus and Laurus and the 14th-century Church of the Presentation of the Holy Virgin are located, flags of the terrorist KLA and the flag of Albania were hung, which, as assessed by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, is a shameful provocation showing that “Albanian rioters and extremists” do not want “peace and coexistence”.
“These two churches represent important holy sites for the Serbian people in Lipjan and places of prayer, spirituality, peace, and unity for Serbs who gather here gladly. That is why this shameful provocation brought unrest and revolt among the Orthodox believers in this place,” stated the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
As they add, this is a “new blow to the holy sites of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Eparchy of Raška and Prizren, aimed at intimidating believing people, with the message that they have no peace in their homes or churches”.
As they say, the hanging of the KLA flag testifies to the fact that “Albanian rioters and extremists” do not want “peace and coexistence, nor do they cultivate any respect toward the holy sites of the SOC, but rather want tensions, incidents, and the expulsion of our people”.
“Despite such unacceptable behavior, Serbs in Lipjan are determined to remain on their land, to visit their churches and monasteries, and not to fall for provocations,” concludes the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
