About 50 miners of Trepča South were trapped in the mine, but some of them managed to get out, while about 18 miners are still in the mine, stated the head of the union Ibrahim Januzi, writes “Kosovo Online.”
Miners are still trapped in the shafts of the “Trepča South” mine due to problems with electrical energy, reports Koha.
The president of the union, Ibrahim Januzi, said that for now the condition of the miners in the shaft is good, but that it could worsen if they stay longer.
“More than 40 miners were trapped, but some managed to get out on foot while, according to information, about 18 of them are still inside, those who were in poor health,” Januzi told Klan Kosova.
“Their general condition is good. We are in communication with them, but the more time they spend inside, the situation becomes worse. They need food and water, because they are on their last reserves,” Januzi said.

The director of the “Stari Trg” mine, Shyqiri Sadiku, confirmed that the miners have been trapped since 1:30 after midnight.
“Most have come out. Currently, 18 miners are still inside, but we are working on finding an alternative solution. 50 miners were inside,” Sadiku said.
He added that the health condition of the trapped miners is stable. The “Trepča South” mine is managed by the temporary Pristina institutions, and the mine faces numerous problems, so employees are often on strike.
