At today’s Government session, as we have learned, the long-standing acting director of the University Clinical Center Niš, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić, was dismissed, as was his deputy, the famous anesthesiologist Prof. Dr. Radmilo Janković.
Despite reaching the requirements for retirement, Prof. Dr. Zoran Perišić’s mandate was extended in 2025 until November 2027. However, after the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption recently submitted a request for his dismissal, the replacement followed at today’s Government session.
Namely, according to the Agency’s decision, the director of UKCS violated the Law on the Prevention of Corruption after he promoted his wife and assigned her brother several jobs within this health institution.

“This is a political decision for Perišić, whose mandate was extended last year, to now be suddenly dismissed. We expected his dismissal because the man is in a conflict of interest; he employed half of his family in the hospital, and he should have been retired a long time ago,” a doctor employed at UKC Niš, who asked to remain anonymous, told Nova.rs.
Together with Perišić, the well-known anesthesiologist Prof. Dr. Radmilo Janković, who until recently was the deputy director of this largest health institution in southern Serbia, was also dismissed. Janković was also the director of the Clinic for Anesthesia and is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Niš.
Two years ago, Prof. Janković received the title of lifelong honorary member of the European Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care, as the first holder of this title from a country that is not a member of the European Union.
