Did he fall asleep, or was he just bored? For U.S. President Donald Trump, it’s all in the eye of the beholder, he says.
Donald Trump said he was not sleeping, but rather that he was bored, during a cabinet meeting in December, when he repeatedly closed his eyes.
“Some people said I was closing my eyes. Look, it was pretty boring,” Trump said, drawing laughter from officials in the White House Cabinet Room.
“I wasn’t sleeping. I just closed my eyes because I wanted to get out of there. By the way, I wasn’t sleeping. I don’t sleep much,” he added.

At 79 years old and in his final term, Trump is trying to dispel doubts about his own vitality.
In previous administrations, cabinet meetings were mostly closed to cameras and considered routine.
For Trump, they have become something of a stage on which he and his team highlight achievements they believe the media does not sufficiently cover.
In one instance last year, a meeting broadcast live on television lasted more than three hours, likely his longest public appearance on camera.
