Serbian rowers Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov won the gold medal in the double sculls event at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto, triumphing in the A final with a time of 6:25.37.

The Serbian crew was dominant in the final race and crossed the finish line 3.20 seconds ahead of Italy’s Giorgio Marvucic and Marco Prati, who won the silver medal with a time of 6:28.57.

The bronze went to the Greek crew of Nikolaos Cholopoulos and Konstantinos Gianoulis, with a time of 6:32.92.

For the Serbian double sculls crew, this is yet another medal at major international competitions in just a few days. Mačković and Pimenov won the silver medal at the World Championships in Amsterdam on August 28, having previously won gold at the European Championships in Varese.

A day earlier, Jovana Arsić won the silver medal in the single sculls at the Mediterranean Games, meaning Serbia currently has two medals from the rowing program in Taranto, one gold and one silver.

The Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games are being held from August 21 to September 3, with athletes from 26 countries competing in 32 sports.
