The first photographs of the horrific accident on Krk involving a Serbian citizen have emerged. A serious traffic accident occurred early Wednesday morning on the road between the Krk Bridge and the airport in Omišalj.
According to reports, the accident occurred when the Serbian man, who was under the influence of alcohol, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a truck.
After the horrific crash, the Serbian man remained trapped inside the vehicle, and firefighters came to his aid, having to cut apart the car in order to reach the injured driver.
Photographs of what the intervention looked like were published by the Public Firefighting Unit of the City of Krk.
Police said that the accident occurred when a 29-year-old Serbian citizen, who was driving a passenger car with Pula registration plates, crossed into the opposite traffic lane while under the influence of alcohol at a level of 1.06 per mille and collided with a truck with Rijeka registration plates driven by a 70-year-old Croatian citizen (70).
The injured parties were provided with medical assistance at Rijeka Clinical Hospital Center, where the passenger car driver was found to have suffered serious bodily injuries, while the truck driver sustained minor bodily injuries.
