The U.S. Pentagon has released the sixth batch of documents on unidentified flying objects, or UFOs, including dozens of documents detailing a military program under which studies were commissioned on warp drives — propulsion systems capable of faster-than-light travel — wormholes, and injuries that researchers linked to possible encounters with unknown craft.
The Pentagon released a total of 71 files yesterday, with 67 provided by the Department of Defense and four by local law enforcement agencies in Colorado, CBS reports.
The release includes 55 PDF files, 15 video files and one audio file, with the documents dated from 1952 to 2025.
The newly released UFO files concern a secret U.S. military initiative known as the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program, which was established by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in 2008 and ran until 2012.
While most of the Defense Intelligence Reference Documents examine ideas that are in the realm of science fiction, one is a highly technical 38-page study from 2010 that analyzes “evidence of unintended injury to human observers by anomalous advanced aerospace systems.”
Researchers wrote in the document that “three previously fit and active individuals experienced an anomalous (irregular, incongruous and inconsistent with their domain) aerospace-related event” and subsequently suffered a range of medical symptoms, including heat and redness of the skin and hair loss.
One of the individuals showed “signs of radiation sickness” and “over several years developed signs of malignant transformations.”
The report states that “a sufficient number of incidents/accidents have been accurately reported” and that “medical data have been collected that support the hypothesis that some advanced systems have already been deployed,” although their operation remains unclear to the United States.
Most of the videos in the released documents are similar to those included in previous releases, showing blurry images of unexplained objects captured by military cameras. One unexplained incident from 2022 shows a drone that “travels at different speeds” ranging between 130 and 290 kilometers per hour.
The accompanying encounter report shows that the operators were on a mission in the Middle East when they spotted various objects at unknown altitudes, while the crew reported that the objects were between one and two meters in size and “sporadically flew within the target area.”
Another video recorded over the Middle East shows “six small spherical objects” that “appeared maneuverable” and frequently changed direction.
Four videos came from local law enforcement agencies in Colorado, which submitted reports to the Pentagon’s office, while a partially blurred recording was captured on mobile phone cameras in October 2023.
“The officer who submitted the report described the phenomenon as ‘silent’ and as ‘red, blue and green flashing lights,’” the U.S. military said in notes accompanying one of the recordings.
The released files include a one-hour audio recording and transcript of statements by Air Force officer Edward Ruppelt from 1952, in which he explains the service’s investigation into UFO incidents and states that about 20 percent of the 800 UFO reports investigated by the Air Force remained a mystery.
On September 14, the Pentagon announced the creation of a legal waiver that would allow current and former employees who had previously been bound by nondisclosure agreements to share information related to UFO research with the government.
