The tragic searchfor missing young chess player Luka Nj. has ended with the saddest possible outcome. The body of a young man, which was found and pulled from the Sava River yesterday near the Ušće Shopping Center in Belgrade, according to confirmed information belongs to the missing young man.

Luka was reported missing the night before last, after which a search was launched. Unfortunately, it ended tragically when members of the relevant services spotted a body in the water and pulled it from the river.

The full circumstances of this tragic event are not yet known, nor has it been established how the young man ended up in the Sava. On the orders of the prosecution, the body was sent for an autopsy, which should determine the exact cause of death and provide answers to the questions that remain open.

News of his death particularly devastated members of the chess club where Luka trained and competed. They said farewell to the young athlete with an emotional message, saying that they would remember him for his smile, dedication and sporting spirit.

“With indescribable sadness and disbelief, we say goodbye to our dear Luka. He left an indelible mark on our hearts and in our club,” the club said in its message.

Luka’s teammates and colleagues said goodbye to the young chess player in disbelief over the tragedy that had befallen them, while the relevant authorities continue to establish all the circumstances of the case.
