A new fire that broke out near Masna Luka on Mount Čvrsnica is rapidly spreading toward the Blidinje trail. The blaze has engulfed dense pine forest, while high flames and strong winds are directly threatening nearby vacation homes.
Due to the extremely inaccessible terrain and difficult access for firefighting vehicles, aerial forces have once again been deployed to the fire site. Firefighting aircraft from the Croatian Air Force have been helping contain the blaze since 11 a.m.
As the fire approaches the Blidinje trail, the focus has been placed on protecting residential buildings from the flames, as well as a nearby church, Klix.ba reports.
All available units from three cantons are on the ground, specifically from the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), Canton 10 and the West Herzegovina Canton, together with members of the Professional Firefighting Brigade of Posušje.
