OUR HEROES SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THEIR MISSION: Serbian firefighters return from Spain after battling historic wildfires!

After spending days at the fire sites in the province of Leon, where they worked side by side with colleagues from Spain and Germany in extinguishing major forest fires, Serbian firefighter-rescuers are returning home today, Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić said.

Dačić emphasized that Serbian firefighter-rescuers, on difficult-to-access terrain, in harsh conditions and far from their families, once again demonstrated their knowledge, professionalism, and what has always defined this profession – providing help without hesitation, when it is needed the most.

“This mission brought more than just a successfully completed task. It brought new experiences, trust, and friendships forged in the joint fight against the raging fires,” Dačić wrote on Instagram.

He added that the Serbian flag was not only flying on their uniforms, but was reflected in every action, every decision, and every helping hand they extended. “This is exactly how the colors of one’s country are represented with dignity,” Vučić said.

Since July 28, a Ministry of the Interior team of 40 members, with a Super Puma helicopter, 17 vehicles, and accompanying equipment, had been engaged in firefighting efforts in Spain through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism, participating every day in the defense of people, homes, and nature from the raging fires.

Major forest fires in Spain forced around 90,000 people to evacuate.
