Microsoft founder Bill Gates told members of a U.S. House Oversight Committee that convicted billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein attempted to use information about his private life to maintain a relationship with him.
According to CNN, Gates said during closed-door testimony that he was never aware of Epstein’s criminal activities and did not attend events or visit properties that later became the subject of investigations.
“I was never a witness to, nor did I have any indication that Epstein was involved in ongoing criminal conduct,” Gates stated in prepared remarks.
He confirmed that he had known Epstein since 2011, when he was introduced to the possibility of raising significant funding for global health projects.
Gates described his decision to meet with Epstein as a “serious error in judgment.”
According to his testimony, he later learned that Epstein had gathered information about his private life, including the fact that he had affairs while married to Melinda French Gates.
Gates said that his interactions with Epstein were limited and were completely terminated by the end of 2014. He also stated that Epstein unsuccessfully attempted to use knowledge of his private life to re-establish contact.
The testimony was given as part of a congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s network of contacts after the U.S. Department of Justice released a large volume of documents related to the case.
The documents include draft emails found in Epstein’s email records containing various claims about Gates. Those claims have not been substantiated, and Gates has previously described them as “absolutely absurd and completely false.”
