Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that he plans to resign from his position in the near future.
Speaking on the radio program “On Wednesday with Bojana Bilbija” on Radio Belgrade’s First Channel, Vučić was asked whether he plans to step down in three or four months. He replied: “Maybe even sooner.”
“I’ve started packing my books at the Presidency. I have a lot of books and I’m looking for a place to put them,” Vučić said.
He added that at a gathering scheduled for June 27 in Belgrade, he will reveal the name of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) electoral list for the upcoming elections.
Vučić stressed that he thinks about running for prime minister every day and noted that he has an important meeting later tonight.
He also stated that “the elections will be held in a few months, and whether that is three or four months is a technical matter.”
“The elections will be in three or four months. They will not be held in July or August, and whether they are formally called during that period is another issue,” Vučić said.
He reiterated that he will present the name of the SNS electoral list for the upcoming elections at the June 27 gathering in Belgrade.
