Pensioner Dragomir D. (75) from Ugrinovci, who was seriously injured during the explosion of an improvised pistol in the shape of a pen, has been released from the hospital for home treatment, Telegraf.rs learns.
As Telegraf.rs reports, Dragomir was at the local cemetery in Ugrinovci on Saturday, May 9, in the morning hours when, according to him, he noticed a metal object on the ground that looked like an ordinary ballpoint pen. Not suspecting that he was holding a dangerous weapon masked as an everyday object in his hands, he took it and brought it home.
The so-called “pen-gun” represents an improvised device that looks like an ordinary ballpoint pen from the outside, but can contain a hidden mechanism and ammunition inside. In certain cases, these are extremely unstable and dangerous devices that can explode during inexpert handling.
According to allegations from the investigation, Dragomir tried to examine the mechanism of the unknown object at home, after which a discharge occurred and caused serious injury to his hand.
His wife confirmed that after arriving home, he went into another room, and a loud noise was heard shortly after. The injured man was then transferred to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe physical injuries to his hand and bone fractures.
The police are continuing work on the case in order to determine the origin of the object and the circumstances under which it ended up on a public surface.
