The president of the Denver Nuggets, Josh Kroenke, confirmed that significant roster changes await the club this summer, but that Nikola Jokic certainly remains the central figure of the franchise.
For the second consecutive season, the Nuggets finished far from the title contention, after dominantly winning the championship ring in 2023. Since then, Denver has failed to maintain the level of play that led them to the greatest success in the club’s history.
A few days after the elimination by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs, Kroenke announced possible major cuts to the roster at a press conference.
“Everyone who roots for Denver should be frustrated. At this moment, everything is an option, even for the team to remain the same. Everything is on the table except for Jokic’s departure. I want to emphasize that clearly, because some of my statements from last year were misinterpreted,” said Kroenke.

Thus, practically every dilemma regarding the future of the Serbian center, who will lead the Nuggets next season as well, has been removed. However, everything points to the fact that Jokic could have a significantly altered team around him.
Kroenke also confirmed that the club has confidence in coach David Adelman.
“I believe in Adelman. I think he did a good job this season, even though he went through very difficult moments,” Kroenke pointed out.
Speaking about the period from winning the title until today, the Denver president stated that the club learned many lessons from that process and that he knows how to reach a trophy, considering that during his career he was part of championship teams in the NBA, NHL, and NFL leagues, as the owner of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Los Angeles Rams.
