Trent Snyder (57) from the Chicago suburb of Winthrop Harbor has been charged at the federal level for allegedly threatening to murder the President of the United States, Donald Trump, via social media, the Office of the US Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois announced.
According to court documents, on October 16, Snyder allegedly posted a “selfie-style” video on Instagram in which he threatened Trump, ABC reports.
“I’m going to get guns. I know where I can get a lot of guns, and I’m going to take care of it myself… You should be executed, Trump,” he said in the video.

According to the complaint, the video was posted about 18 times between October 16 and 21, and the accompanying caption read:
“This is not a threat!!! After I lost everything… Donald Trump should be executed,” the caption stated.
The incident was reported by a citizen in Florida who saw the video on October 16.
Following his arrest on Monday morning, Snyder was held in custody by order of a federal judge and is scheduled to appear at a detention hearing on Thursday.
If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Information about his lawyer is not yet available.
