The musical ensemble Fenečki biseri, whose music has been played from the “Ćaciland” in recent evenings, issued an apology to Dijana Hrka, who is on a hunger strike nearby, seeking accountability for the death of her son and the remaining 15 victims in the collapse of the canopy at the Novi Sad Railway Station. The ensemble stressed that no one asked for their permission to use their music and that they cannot influence it.

For two evenings now, music with patriotic motifs has been echoing from the area in front of Pioneer Park, played directly in front of Dijana Hrka and the citizens gathering to support her.

The Fenečki biseri ensemble is the first and so far the only one to distance itself from the misuse of their music for these purposes.

“Dear brothers and sisters, for several hours now we have been receiving information that the Fenečki biseri concert is being played from a loudspeaker in front of the Parliament. We feel the need to speak out and say that no one asked for our permission for this, nor did they inform us, and we have no possibility to forbid or stop it.

We can say that we are powerless regarding this act that surprised us, and by this means, we publicly disassociate ourselves from this act and express dissatisfaction with the abuse of our artistic work,” the ensemble stated.

They added that for eight years they have been striving for their songs to embody respect, harmony, and love for their people and homeland, “but above all, truth, all of which is contrary to the place from which the sounds of our concert are currently coming.”

“This announcement is simultaneously an apology and unequivocal support for mother Dijana, as well as for all of you who were disturbed by this in any way,” the ensemble emphasized.

In addition to Fenečki biseri, the repertoire of the “Ćaciland” in the past two evenings also included the songs “Srpkinja je majka mene rodila” (A Serbian Woman is the Mother Who Gave Birth to Me), as well as Baja Mali Knindža’s song “Morem plovi jedna mala barka” (A Small Boat Sails on the Sea) with the lyric “mother went to look for her son.”
