After receiving a report about the disappearance of a mountaineer, a citizen of the Republic of Croatia, an extensive search and rescue operation was launched in the area of Mount Visocica.
Participating in the operation were 16 members of GSS Prenj, 35 members of GSS Sarajevo Canton, a patrol from the Konjic Police Station, as well as a large number of mountaineers who provided information and assistance on the ground, N1 Sarajevo reports.
“By searching the wider area of Mount Visocica, the lifeless body of the searched mountaineer was found. After the investigation was conducted by the officers of the Konjic Police Directorate, a technically demanding operation to extract the body across extremely difficult and inaccessible terrain was initiated, which lasted about two hours,” announced GSS Prenj.
The body of the casualty mountaineer was handed over to the Konjic Police Directorate shortly after midnight, after which a debriefing of all participants in the operation was held.

The operation was completed without injuries or difficulties for the rescuers.
“This operation once again showed the importance of mutual cooperation between mountain rescue services, police structures, and all people who assist through their engagement in the most difficult moments on the mountain,” the rescuers stated.
The operation was launched after the disappearance of the Croatian citizen was reported. According to available information, on May 24, 2026, he was moving along the route from the Vito peak toward the Paric peak, after which he planned to descend to the “Zoran Simic” bivouac, and further along the hiking trail toward a “Peugeot” vehicle with Croatian license plates PU.
Unfortunately, the search ended tragically.
