Dragoljub Micunovic, the restorer of work and founder of the modern Democratic Party, its first president after its restoration in 1990, has passed away at the age of 96, the DS announced.
The DS stated in the announcement that with deep sadness it bids farewell to Dragoljub Micunovic, a man who, as estimated, marked the fight for freedom, democracy, and the dignity of politics in Serbia with his life.
The Democrats remind that Micunovic “belongs to a generation of people who knew the price of freedom, because they paid for it personally, but who never gave up on the fight for a democratic Serbia.”
As a philosopher, professor, political prisoner, parliamentarian, and democrat, he left a mark that transcends a single party and belongs to the political history of Serbia, according to the DS.

They also point out that for that party, his name remains part of its identity, its restoration, and its obligation to continue the fight for a Serbia of free citizens, strong institutions, and democratic values.
“We express our most sincere condolences to his family, friends, admirers, and all democrats. May he have eternal glory,” the Democratic Party stated.
