Unexpected news arrives from the camp of one of the best Serbian MMA fighters – Borislav Nikolic is no longer the bantamweight champion in the prestigious “Brave CF” organization!
Nikolic made the difficult decision to vacate the title, and the reasons are exclusively health problems that became an insurmountable obstacle in this weight category. Namely, cutting weight became so exhausting for the popular “Bora” that the team decided to put the priority on his long-term health.
That the process of reaching the bantamweight limit takes its toll was already visible during his first belt defense against Hamza Kooheji. Nikolic then went through “real hell” during the final hours before the weigh-in, managing to satisfy the scale literally at the last moment, which was also reflected in his freshness inside the cage.

An announcement of this kind of outcome could also be sensed in his latest appearance against Mateus Malta. That match was done in a so-called “catchweight” (intermediate category), which was a kind of test and preparation for moving to a higher division.
Fans, however, have no reason to worry when it comes to his return to the cage. Nikolic has one more match remaining under his contract with the “Brave CF” organization, and his debut in the new (higher) category is expected at the big spectacle in Pula, which is scheduled for September!
The return to the octagon in the legendary Pula Arena will be an ideal opportunity for the Serbian fighter to show how dangerous he is when his body is not exhausted by extreme diets and dehydration.
As a reminder, Nikolic is considered one of the most complete fighters in the region, and moving to the category above could open completely new doors for him in the global MMA hierarchy.
